Abstract:
The review article examines Zbigniew Romek’s book on the March ’68 generation in Łódź. It addresses the central themes of the work, including the intellectual portrait of the March ’68 generation as derived from the recollections of former participants in the student protests, the articulated reasons for their involvement in the 1968 demonstrations, and the influence of socialisation through educational institutions and Western culture on the worldview of the examined generation. Additionally, polemical remarks highlight, among other aspects, the functioning of the cultural ‘socialist counter-offer’ directed towards youth in the 1960s.
