Abstract:
The goal adopted by the author in writing this book is to present the genesis, evolution and role of so-called ʻactive measuresʼ, which the Kremlin uses below the threshold of conventional armed confl ict to implement the objectives of its imperial policy in the twentieth and twenty-fi rst centuries. In Soviet/Russian terminology, they are called active measures. In the twenty-fi rst century, Russia not only did not stop using them but signifi cantly improved them, which was connected with the development of modern information technologies. The present book has a problem-based layout refl ected in its structure. It is a collection of articles on selected aspects of active measures used in the Kremlinʼs imperial policy at the global and regional level from the 1920s until the start of Russiaʼs full-scale invasion of Ukraine (24 February 2022).
