Bibliography p. 254-261. Index ; 271 p. ; 21 cm ; Summary in English.
This book aims at characterising the situation of a tiny liberal party in East Central Europe on the eve of World War I. This party, comprised mostly of Polish intelligentsia of Cracow and some other Galician towns, did enjoy, for a time, some influence on the political life of the province, but m the early 20th Century most of it waned under the pressure of modern mass politics. The presentation of intellectual and political dilemmas and challenges facing the Polish Liberal Democrats in Galicia may help to understand some aspects of fate of the liberal movements in the whole East-Central Europe.
