Subject and Keywords: Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Haemorrhagia cerebri recens. Status lacunaris. Autopsy examination of 60-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with H-E, Cresyl violet and Van Gieson's method. In the left hemisphere, a fresh hemorrhagic focus in the dissection phase was found, destroying the white matter and partially the basal ganglia. In the border of the focus incomplete necrosis in the cortex and diffuse necrosis in the internal capsule were present. In the right hemisphere numerous perivascular cavities were seen. Cellular atrophy and chronic ischemic disorders were observed in the cortex. Large atherosclerotic lesions were seen in the vessels, in addition to features of congestion and edema.
