Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Encephalomalacia in stadio organisationis. Angiorna cavernosum ?Autopsy examination of 78-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson staining method.A branched necrotic focus was present, partially empty and partially covered with macrophages. Numerous fibroblasts were visible on the margins. Several smooth cavities were found without lining, without tissue debris, without connective tissue, separated only by bridges of nerve tissue. At a distance was a structure, appearing to be a vessel, but containing only connective tissue in the walls. Its entire lumen was filled with partially vitrified collagen fibers.
