Subject and Keywords: Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Meningitis purulenta.Autopsy examination of 62-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method.A thick inflammatory infiltrate consisting almost exclusively of leukocytes was found on the protuberances and in the gyri and sulci. The inflammation generally did not penetrate deep into the brain, only along the very thick vascular cords. Single ischemically altered cells were seen in the cortex. Moderate, diffuse desolations were observed. The lining of the ventricles was unchanged, the architecture of the basal ganglia was preserved.
