Histological diagnosis: Haemorrhagia pontis. Necrosis substantiae albae regionis parietalis. Atrophia corticis.Autopsy examination of 72-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method.A large, fresh hemorrhagic focus was found destroying the entire pons cap unilaterally. In the parietal area, an extensive area of demyelination with a thinned fiber pattern, perivascular transudates, and retrograde changes was seen in the white matter. Significant diffuse atrophy was observed in the parietal cortex.
