Abstract:The behavior of redox enzyme activities in glial cultures under the influenceof variable content of atmospheric oxygen was studied.Activity of these enzymes is dependent on the content of oxygen in the atmosphere, solubility of oxygen in the medium, age of the culture, and -type ofglial cells. The greatest drop in enzymatic activity was observed under conditions ofcomplete hyperoxia and anoxia. The effect of intermediate states of hypoxia and hyperoxia on the activity ofdehydrogenases was not distinct.Young cultures, from 2 to 3 week exhibited greatest drops in enzymatic activities. The character of the enzymatic reactions and the distribution of activities indifferent types of glial ceils were the same as under conditions of normal gasatmosphere.SDH, NAD, GHD, G«P DH, G-6-P DH and LDH exhibited the greatest dropin activity. The enzymatic activity of all the studied dehydrogenases was directly dependenton the functional state and morphologic picture of the glial cells.
