Phytoplankton production is a sensitive indicator of changes in nutrients contents in a water habitat. The use of natural phytoplankton communities as test organisms in experiments on enrichment of the habitat makes it possible correctly to evaluate the productive capacities of phytoplankton communities in the water examined.The method consisting in long-term enrichment of a water habitat with elements in open polyethylene bags, with measurement of algae production repeated several times during the course of the experiment, gives results closest to the production of natural phytoplankton communities. These experiments with enrichment of a water habitat with nutrients form a quick and sensitive method of estimating the food factors limiting production in different types of waters. Changes in phytoplankton production, on the other hand, can serve as a pointer to the eutrophizing properties of different habitats in a body of water and in the streams and rivers flowing into it, and may also point to the time at which steps must be taken to prevent their excessive inflow in order to protect the water ecosystems from degradation.}, title={Eksperymentalne badanie wpływu soli pokarmowych na produkcję naturalnych zespołów fitoplanktonowych jako metoda prognozowania tempa eutrofizacji wód}, type={Text}, URL={http://rcin.org.pl/miiz/Content/153836/PDF/WA058_107868_P3259-22_Eko-Pol-B.pdf}, volume={22}, number={4}, journal={Wiadomości Ekologiczne}, publisher={Państwowe Wydawnictwo Naukowe}, keywords={freshwater phytoplankton, biological productivity, productivity, biological, aquatic ecology, aquatic habitats, limnology, nutrition}, }
