Abstract:

Examination was made of the size of intercellular spaces of four populations of Avena sativa and of one population of Avena fatua, cultivated in identical conditions. Oats populations differed as to the origin of seed (different surroundings and geographical conditions). It was found that in the same culture conditions the differences of the size of intercellular spaces between populations of Avena sativa amount to 9,5%. It was further established that cultivated populations are characterised by the slightly larger aerial system of the leaves than the weed populations of the species exarnined.
