The photo depicts a multi-generational family in a garden. An elderly woman wearing a headscarf is sitting in a chair; there are four children beside her and behind them a man and a woman holding a baby in her arms. In the background there are farm buildings and trees. The inscription at the back of the photo says: “Children: in the middle my mother Tekla (…) standing by their grandmother. Jędrek [Andrew] and Zosia [Sophie]. The wife Jadwiga (…) is holding in her arms the child of her brother Izydor [Isidore] who is standing next to her. The photo was taken in the garden in front of a barn. Taken by nephew Jan [John] (…) in July 1943” ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
