Abstract:

We propose and advocate the use of linguistic summaries as de­scriptions of trends in time series data. We consider two general types of such summaries: summaries based on frequence and summaries based on duration. We employ the concept of a linguistic database summary due to Yager. To account for a specificity of time series data summarization we employ the Sugeno integrals for linguistic quantifier based aggregation.
