Progress in genetic engineering has lead to the development of efficient methods of transferand expression of genes in eucariotic cells. This technology has been employed to kill cancer cells. Five major strategies of cancer genetherapy have been proposed and are currently verified in clinical trials. They include: (1) geneticcellular vaccines, (2) suicide genes, (3) multidrug resistance genes, (4) HLA genes transfer intocancer cells, and (5) repair of defective suppressor genes and/or removal of activated oncogene.
