Determination of sludge methanogenic activity and metoxychlor toxicityunder anaerobic conditions
Committee on Biotechnology PAS ; Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS
In the investigations carried out on anaerobic biodegradation of pesticides, specific sludgeactivity and toxicity of pesticides in batch tests were determined. The specific methanogenicsludge activity was determined i.e. the amount of acetate as an amount of COD for methaneproduction (CODCH4) 1 gram of sludge VSS (volatile suspended solid) per 1 day. Using thetoxicity test the magnitude of inhibition caused by presence of Methoxychlor — organochlorineinsecticide group of pesticides — was assessed.
