The itinerary of Casimir Jagiellonian (b. 30 November 1427) spans the period between 1440 and 1492, that is from the decision of King Władysław III to send his brother to Lithuania, then the period of his reign in Lithuania as grand duke (from 29 June 1440) and in Poland as king (elected king on 23 April 1445 at the assembly of Sieradz, crowned in Cracow on 25 June 1447, died on 7 VI 1492). The taking up of the subject is justified by a current state of research. Casimir Jagiellonian is the only Polish king of the Late Middle Ages whose full itinerary has not been prepared yet. I propose an itinerary supplemented by additional information, especially on the history of Polish parliamentarism. I include also information about Polish-Lithuanian assemblies, Lithuanian ones and assemblies of the Prussian estates – attended by the king. I note mentions of sessions of chancery courts in districts and capitals of voivodeships – during the stay of the king. I also take into account non-royal documents and letters which undoubtedly were issued at the actual place of king’s residence. I propose a new approach towards the entries in the two Registers, the Crown and Lithuanian ones. The lack of date or uncertain dating resulted in the situation that hundreds of entries from the offices’ registers have been not included in Casimir’s itineraries published so far. Some of those entries could be dated, although of course not all of them. An analysis of their content, titles of officials or of Church dignitaries, and finally the titles of Casimir Jagiellonian (duke, king) have made it possible for me to introduce some of those entries into the itinerary. Information about individual places of residence of the king is presented according to the method proposed for this type of registers by A. Gąsiorowski years ago (Itinerarium króla Władysława Jagiełły, Warsaw, 1972): year, place, specific dates of the stay, source accounts. I use a comma to separate various source accounts on the same day, and semicolon – to separate different days. A long hyphen is used to refer to the same event, but described in various sources (e.g. references to a fire in Poznań in 1447, during the king’s stay in the city). At the end of the source data on the same day I put the information about the publication of a photograph or representation of the document. Often information on the stay of the king in a place is with no daily date, and in this case I separate them with a comma. [...] I use square brackets in the itinerary to add my own concise commentary, and especially to give probable daily or yearly dates of the king’s stay. The schedule contains also documents for which it has been possible to determine only a chronological frame of their issuing. I have decided to include them in the list, although such a document is supplemented with a full description when it is presented for the first time in the itinerary, and in later years – with a reference mark. only
