Clinical, anatomical and histological diagnosis
Histological diagnosis: Oedema, hyperaemia passiva cerebri. Haemorrhagia in regione trunci cerebri .Arteriosclerosis gradu mediocri. Autopsy examination of 68-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and Cresyl violet.In the parietal cortex region, cerebral oedema and congestion features due to compression of the subdural haematoma were found. Virchoff-Robin spaces were dilated. The tissue at vascular-tissue boundary was focally loosened. Sparse macrophages and lymphocytes were seen in the tunica adventitia. All vessels were maximally filled. On the borderline between the bridge and the midbrain unilaterally under the nucleus coeruleus numerous small fresh haemorrhagic foci. In the vicinity of some vessels the tissue was loosened and necrosis was observed
