Early damage of the central nervous system in experimental poisoning with manganese compounds
Zakład im. Ossolińskich - Wydawnictwo Polskiej Akademii Nauk
Early morphological alterations of the central nervous system in rats due to manganese chloride intoxication were characterized. The animals were intoxicated in the course of 4 weeks by intravenous administration of manganese chloride in a total dosis of 240 g Mn++/kg of body weight. The animals were killed either immediately or 7 days after the last injection of the toxic substance. The morphological abnormalities of the central nervous system were compared with thosefound in animals surviving 1 month after intoxication (Mossakowski et al. 1982).
