Apart from the text of Genesis 2\:4b–3\:24, biblical references to Eden are little known. Being a Bible scholar, the author of the article examines this issue from the theological and biblical perspective. Among the symbolic elements of Eden that appear in other biblical texts, a major role is played by the images of a river, fruit trees and the tree of life. These symbols appear together, in various configurations, in Ez 47\:1\-2 and Rev 22\:1\-2. From the biblical perspective, a return to the lost Eden is possible. However, the symbol of Eden is closely related to the eschatological message of the Bible.
