Muscle segment examination in light & electon microscopy

Abstract:

A biopsy of quadriceps sinister from a 12-year-old patient with suspected myoglobinuria wasexamined.Electronmicroscopy analysis revealed unchanged ultrastructure of muscle fibers. The structure ofmyofibrils was preserved, normal, located submembranously nuclei were seen. Most of mitochondriawere unchanged. Quite numerous fat droplets were observed.Biochemical evaluation of carnitine palmitoyltransferase in the muscle tissue was performed andthe result was 5,65 nM/mgB/min. (Norm 6,5-18 nM/mgB/min).
