Abstract:

Bearing of dog’s gall-bladder, biliary tracts and liver parenchyma was investigated in various periods after cutting of Vater’s papilla. Cutting of Oddi’s sphincter caused in all experimental animals the development of chronic inflammatory changes within gall-bladder and biliary tracts. The same changes within liver parenchyma were observed in 40% of the animals. The authors conclude the necessity of cholecystectomy in each case of sphincterotomy.
