Abstrakt:

The role of protein and organic crystallography was discussed. X-ray analysis is an important tool inthe investigations of macromolecular structures. It can be used in evaluations of the structures (with thehighest accuracy at the moment) and mechanisms of enzymes, enzymes-inhibitors (substrates analogs)complexes, hormones, antibodies - practically all kinds of macromolecules. X-ray analysis is particularlyuseful in co-operation with protein engineering. Site directed mutagenesis can supply mutants, helping instructure - function, molecular recognition investigations, and optimizing the enzyme function. New enzymes and other proteins, with new, stricktiy required properties can be quickly obtained. X-ray analysis canalso be helpful in biotransformation research, drugs, pesticides, herbicides synthesis, and in the loweringthe costs of production. The results of protein and organic crystallography are stored in Data Banks, whichcan be used (in to the predict and to model of) new molecules.
