Opis:

Photography (scan from a slide). Fragment of a tribal feast of Bhils dedicated to the goddess Gauri. Festival lasts for about 40 days and takes place during the rainy season. Every day a group of men from the tribe dancing in the next village. Culminating holiday in this region is in the suburbs of Udaipur and there are a few hours of dancing and playing a scene from tribal mythology, the most of them connected with life of a deity Rai Budiya. At the end of the procession holy figure of the goddess Gauri is thrown into the water. In the picture the actors taking part in the dances, during which Bhils fall into a trance. Some of them wear traditional white clothes with a red mark on their back. Most of them are holding weapons - swords and spears. In the background you can see country houses
