Abstract:

The paper presents an analysis of an impact of implementation of the Kyoto protocol on the technological change in a small economy. Jnternalization of the environmental costs causes extra charges or benefits related to the trade in the emission permits. One sector optimization model has been developed assuming the optimum behavior of economic agents. The optimum solution consists of the optimal choice between the competing technologies. Two simulation scenarios differing in the level of permit prices, used as the model parameters, were analyzed.
