The photo shows a four-member family: a woman, a man and two little children. Apparent from the description of the owner of the photo this is a family (…) from Huszcza Village. The man is dressed in a suit, the woman in a white blouse and a dark skirt, children in white. There is an inscription on the back of the photo: “With respect your son A. (…) with his family, photo taken on March 15th, 1920. Your loving son A (…) my wife Helena is 26 years old, Stanisław[Stanislaus] is 5 years old, on April 7th Łucja [Lucia] will be 1 year old. She has started walking now. Dear parents, we are sending you this photo of our whole family, which you wanted as we lookn in America. Dear parents let me know when my birthday is, because I don’t know and you have to know this in the strange land” (some errors in Polish original, part in a dialect) ; The photo sent to the contest “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly „Nowa Wieś” (New village). The copy of the photo in the possession of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute of the History of Material Culture)
