Description:

The photo depicts a young woman in a white blouse with a dark trimming and a black skirt, leaning against a chair. The woman is holding a book in her hand. At the back of the photo there is an inscription saying: “A keepsake for my dear friend Jaśka Ko(…) Maryśka K.”. According to its owner, the photo depicts Marianna (…) – her grandmother’s friend. Since she was born she lived in Białowieża together with her parents and no-one knew where she moved out to, since the women lost touch. The photo was taken in the photographic studio in May the 3rd Street ; August 1924, Pułtusk ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
